Ghanaian rapper, Micheal Owusu Addo, widely known as Sarkodie, has strongly denied the allegations made by actress Yvonne Nelson that he impregnated her and pressured her into terminating the pregnancy.
Nelson detailed her past relationships with industry men in her recently published memoir, "I am not Yvonne Nelson," dedicating pages 88 to 95 to her claims against Sarkodie. However, Sarkodie responded to her allegations by releasing a diss track titled "Try Me" on Wednesday, where he refuted Nelson's narrative of events.
Contrary to the assertions made in her book, Sarkodie stated that he had
actually encouraged Nelson to keep the baby, despite not being ready to become
a father at the time. He revealed that she ultimately chose to have an abortion
due to her academic pursuits. In the first verse of the song, he rapped,
"So don't make it seem like I was the one pushing you for abortion because
that's the only part that angered me."
Sarkodie further claimed that the actress recently attempted to
manipulate him by arranging a private meeting, but he suggested meeting at a
public place. Nelson refused his suggestion, insisting that a bar was too
exposed. The rapper expressed suspicion that her invitation was a ploy to
rekindle their relationship.
He concluded the song by asserting that no one else is responsible for
the choices Nelson made in her life and urged her to refrain from personal
attacks. He also commented on the initial success of her book, insinuating that
negativity often gains more attention in today's world. Sarkodie concluded with
a wish for her healing, while hinting that her image as a good girl contradicts
her behavior.
