The
U.S. Coast Guard has confirmed all five passengers aboard the missing Titan
submersible have died.
They say debris
of the Titan submersible have been found near the Titanic.
Each explorer paid $250,000 Dollars
to OceanGate for the expedition. A billionaire and his son were on
board.
Recall
that the tourist submersible named Titan began its journey to the wreck site of
the renowned Titanic, which sits at a depth of 12,500ft in the Atlantic Ocean,
on Sunday morning with five passengers on board, including a pilot and a notable
diver.
About
an hour and 45 minutes later, the Titan lost contact with its surface ship, the
Polar Prince. The Titan was equipped with a four-day emergency oxygen supply.
For
four days, the submersible was not traced. However, banging sounds, were heard
across 30minute intervals, early Wednesday (June 21) by a Canadian seaplane, sending
authorities scrambling to locate their source.
The
victims have been identified by family members as OceanGate Expeditions founder
and CEO Stockton Rush, British billionaire Hamish Harding, renowned French
diver Paul-Henri Nargeolet, Pakistani billionaire Shahzada Dawood and his
19-year-old son Suleman.
Efforts
to locate them has proven abortive, despite efforts of US, UK and Canadian government.
