The Afrobeats singer became the first African performer to headline a solo show in a stadium in the UK earlier this month, making history.
Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy, a Grammy winner from Nigeria, has become the first African musician to reach one billion Audiomack streams.
Audiomack, a music streaming service that allows producers to freely share an unlimited amount of music and podcast content, sent the Nigerian a message of congratulations on Thursday via its Twitter account.
The message read, "Congratulations, Burna Boy on becoming the first African Artist to reach one billion Audiomack streams."
The two-word tweet that the afrobeat singer, who has ruled the global Afrobeats scene, sent in response to the announcement said, " Big 7!”
According to Rolling Stone UK, the Afrobeats singer became the first African performer to headline a solo show in a stadium in the UK earlier this month.
The 31-year-old performer sold out the 80,000-seat London Stadium and performed songs from his smash album "Love Damini" and other hits. His accomplishment was praised by the London Stadium team via Twitter.
On June 10, Burna Boy performed at the Pepsi Champions League Kick-off Show, which followed his sold-out performance at the London Stadium.
On stage with Brazilian pop icon Anitta, he performed songs like "Last Last" and "It's Plenty" in Istanbul, Turkey.
His influence has grown to larger music markets as a result of his expanding global fan base and artistic output.
"Sittin' on Top of the World," his most recent album, reached a new high on the Netherlands Daily Spotify Top Songs Chart. Moreover, it rose in the UK Everyday Spotify Top Tunes Graph.
According to Billboard, Burna Boy will also become the first Nigerian artist to headline a stadium concert in the United States on July 8, 2023.
