...How Abducted  Rev Fr Was Released In Okigwe 



Apart from cases of armed gunmen attacking police formations and Owerri  prison, there is no day that passes in Imo State without recorded cases of kidnapping of innocent citizens.


Only on Saturday evening, a prominent Catholic priest and University teacher, Rev Fr Prof Marcel Izu Onyeocha was kidnapped.


While the security agencies moved in for rescue around the Okigwe area where the incident happened , another profiled personality in the state was abducted by unknown gunmen on Sunday.


The recent victim, Chidiebere Ezeji is the President of the Micheal Okpara College of Agriculture, MOCA, Umuagwo now Imo State Polytechnic.


Ezeji and wife were said to be on their way to Owerri from Okigwe when the date devil gunmen struck and whisked him away leaving behind the wife.


The one-day, one-kidnap incident has sent shivers down the spines of the residents who are scared of moving on the road due to Insecurity.


Meanwhile, details of how Rev Fr (Prof) Marcel Izu Onyeocha was released by his captives have emerged. 


Fr Onyeocha who was seized by the gunmen police report said are herdsmen, was released yesterday morning after two nights with his captives.


According to a source , he was dropped at the Ihube- Okigwe end on the Enugu Porthacourt road. 


It couldn't be ascertained if ransom was paid for his release or not but the police had vowed to fish out the abductors after the incident.
