What seems like an unbelievable story of the century, which played out recently at Aba branch satelite market in Ehime Mbano when betting and Fifty Naira change, sent three young men to an early grave.
The incident, Lizzy Gist blog gathered, happened when one Chidubem Mbamara went to a bet shop in the area and played bet worth Six Hundred Naira.
Unable to pay in full immediately, he was said to have deposited the sum of One Hundred and Fifty Naira and his phone with promise to bring the remaining.
On his return, the said Chidubem was able to pay the sum of Four Hundred Naira only, bring his debt to Five Hundred and Fifty Naira (#50) with promise to pay at a latter day.
According to report by the Police spokesman, SP Orlando Ikeokwu in a release, an altercation was said to have ensued between Chidubem and the manager of the shop, one Henry Obi.
Possibly irked by the altercation, Chidubem was reported to have swiftly ran home and came back brandishing a locally made pistol which he shot at the same Henry Obi but unfortunately in the process, three others were hit by the bullet.
In the ensuing confusion, people around pounced on Chidubem Mbamara and beat him to death.
The police report stated that, Henry Obi and one Ebuka whose surname could not be ascertained, gave up the ghost at the hospital where they were receiving treatment while the third person, Chibuike Iwunze is presently responding to treatment at an unknown hospital.
However, the Imo state Commissioner of Police, CP Nasiru Mohammed has warned the general public to desisit from taking laws in their hands to perpetrate jungle justice, but always ensure that matters of security nature are brought to the appropriate quarters.
Meanwhile, the report states that the corpses of the deceased persons has been deposited in the morgue, while investigation has commenced.
