There are indications that the Imo state police Command have imposed curfew in the state.
This emerged as certain units of the police formation have decided to disrupt free movement of residents of the state, especially, in the night.
Crime in Focus can authoritatively state that the Imo State Government after the hoodlums attack on Police headquarters and Owerri prison is yet to announce a curfew even as operatives of the police stop road users for this reason.
So far, there is no official release by the state Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodinma of any curfew.
But recent activities by the police have shown a claim of imposition of Curfew.
Crime in Focus noticed long traffic congestion at Avu junction last weekend where the policemen stationed at the road block on the Owerri Portharcourt, by the new police headquarters blocked the road and told users to stop their movements on the claims that there is curfew.
More appalling was the fact that unsuspecting motorists who had no prior notice of the said curfew were asked to pay money before they were allowed to continue their journey.
At that particular Avu police road block, a colleague was among those halted at 22hrs on the road. It took several appeals for hours before the policemen opened road for traffic.
Same was also observed Sunday night on Mbaise road and other parts of the state where police took hold of the road and refused motorists movements to and fro the state capital on the premise that there is curfew.
Efforts to speak to the police on the matter proved abortive as the command public relations officer didn't pick his calls.
